Michael Cohen, President Trump’s Ex-attorney, was sentenced to three years this Wednesday for crimes that included arranging the payment of hush money to conceal his boss’ alleged sexual affairs, telling a judge that he agreed time and again to cover up Trump’s “dirty deeds” out of “blind loyalty.”

Cohen, 52, watched with self-disdain as a judge pronounced his sentence for evading $1.4 million in taxes, lying about Trump’s business dealings in Russia and violating campaign-finance laws in buying the silence of porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy centerfold Karen McDougal, who claimed they had sex with the candidate.

Cohen claimed that if it wasn’t for his “blind loyalty” for the president, things could have been different. “Time and time again, I felt it was my duty to cover up his dirty deeds rather than to listen to my own inner voice and my moral compass,” said Cohen, who once claimed he would “take a bullet” for trump.

The question now is, what will happen to Trump? He has ignored any questions about the issue and has denied having any sexual relations with the two women. Cohen, although he was once on his side, has been praised for speaking out against the most powerful man in the country.

Even with the President’s lack of cooperation, impeachment may not be out of the picture.

In an article by USA Today, it discusses a similar situation that occurred 20 years ago, the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

The price the accusers must pay in an impeachment are high. Many Republicans lost house seats in the election following the impeachment and Democrats are fearful that, if they go through with the impeachment of Trump, they may have to deal with the same repercussions.

“It’s hard to impeach somebody who hasn’t done anything wrong and who’s created the greatest economy in the history of our country,” the President stated in an Oval Office interview last week. “I’m not concerned, no. I think that the people would revolt if that happened.”

Trump, according to this quote, isn’t fearful of the consequences that his actions may bring because he believes he has done nothing wrong, he believes this even with physical evidence and many allegations against him by people who know the most.

Although he publicly believes he will not be impeached, the worry is still there. If Democrats take majority in the house, impeachment may become a real possibility for Trump.

Further words about the presidents fate has yet to be released. With about one year left in Trumps term as president, the investigation could lean either way.

Controversy Over Kaepernick’s Nike Ad is Unnecessary

Nike ad featuring Kaepernick.

Tampa Bay, Fla.–After the release of the controversial Nike ad featuring ex-NFL star Colin Kaepernick, the brand has been experiencing mixed reviews.

Kaepernick was the face of the National Anthem protest movement back in 2016. He kneeled during the singing of the National Anthem for what he deemed as the wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States.

However, the negativity towards Nike after their release of the recent ad featuring Kaepernick is not widespread. It is mostly coming from more politically conservative people, who also protested against Kaepernick’s cause back in 2016. President Trump also spoke about the topic.

“Just like the NFL, whose ratings have gone WAY DOWN, Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts,” Trump tweeted shortly after the announcement of the deal. This statement is, however, very false, as Nike’s value actually skyrocketed to six million after the release of the ad which is the highest their value has ever been.

The ad reads: Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything. This speaks to Kaepernick’s role in the protests back in 2016. Kaepernick sacrificed his career as a NFL quarterback because he believed so strongly in equality for all races in America.

Negative feedback targeted towards Nike as a result of the ad’s release have included actions such as several universities removing all Nike branded sports uniforms and products from their campuses as a form of boycotting the company. Also, many people began to upload pictures and videos of themselves defacing Nike products such as socks and shoes. A large number of the postings included people stating they would switch their allegiance to companies such as Adidas, Brooks or Converse–despite Converse also being a Nike owned company.

The negative response to the ad is unnecessary, due to the fact that it simply is that–an ad. Not only is it simply an ad, but it is an ad promoting a positive message about persuading a dream regardless of the criticism of others.

Even the president, who did not agree with the Anthem protests, stated: “As much as I disagree with the Colin Kaepernick endorsement, in another way . . . it is what this country is all about, that you have certain freedoms to do things that other people think you shouldn’t do, but I personally am on a different side of it.”

This quote further proves how this whole ordeal over a simple ad is unnecessary, even by someone who doesn’t agree with the circumstances of the face of the ad. We, as Americans, need to learn to accept others regardless of what we believe because it will make America what it was meant to be–a democracy.

New iPhones Released

New iPhones Released

Tampa Bay, Fla.–Apple has recently introduced three new iPhones: The iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR.

This makes iPhone prices expensive, however, because these three phones grow the iPhone line to eleven generations on the iOS operating system. The ongoing trade war between the United States and China will also impact the growing costs of these phones. Apple continues to build iPhones in China and import parts for the phones from overseas, but the phones themselves are designed in California. Apple is going to face political and regulatory challenges due to the 2018 United States-China trade war, and the proposed tariffs United States President Trump has issued on Chinese imports. Because China is paying more for Apple products, the additional expense will make the cost of the final product more expensive for American consumers.

The cost of the iPhone XS can go from 999 dollars up to 1,349 dollars. The XS Max can go from 1,099 dollars to 1,449 dollars. The XR will be released on October 19, 2018. The price of the iPhone XR would be 749 dollars to 899 dollars.

The new iPhones along with the previous iPhone X will feature the face ID where you can unlock your phone by just simply showing your face which will give the user access to his or her music, games and applications. The iPhones are also getting bigger in size.

Controversy over the Recent Nike Advertisement

Controversy+over+the+Recent+Nike+Advertisement

Sep. 20, 2018

The newest Nike advertisement stars former San Francisco 49’ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. The 30-year-old is the face of the Nike “Just Do It” campaign and the most recent face of the Nike company.

This controversial advertisement features the statement: “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.” This is relevant to Kaepernick because he began protesting during the National Anthem at NFL games, by taking a knee instead of standing during the singing of the Anthem.

President Trump doesn’t support Nike’s move to feature Kaepernick in their advertising campaign because he does not believe that the Anthem protests are appropriate. He is vocal about his criticism of Kaepernick, and other protesters, on his Twitter account.

While President Trump doesn’t support Nike, former President of the United States, Barack Obama, supports Nike products and this advertisement.

During the advertisement in question, Kaepernick talks about dreams and his dream was to be a football player in which he did accomplish. Kaepernick did lose his position as starting quarterback and was released from the team because he started the protests. He could be claimed by another team but he will have to work very hard in order to do it. He did this advertisement to show how he believes in his quiet protest during the National Anthem.

As this story continues to grow bigger, memes have been made out of the advertisement such as, “Don’t care, even if it means not caring about anything.” That is a meme that is supposed to be a joke from the actual advertisement.

As people gather their thoughts on this advertisement and the greater debate over kneeling during the Anthem, a lingering question remains: will this controversy change the NFL?

President Trump faces pressure after Hurricane Maria death count rises in Puerto Rico

Retrieved+from+Orlando+Sentinel

Retrieved from Orlando Sentinel

Washington’s CNN news reported on Aug. 29 that the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carmen Yulin Cruz, blamed President Donald Trump for the deaths of many citizens in San Juan after Hurricane Maria.

“2,975 people will never see the light of day and many of them died because of what was done by most of the political class in Puerto Rico,” Cruz told CNN ‘New Day’ host, Alisyn Camerota. “The administration killed the Puerto Ricans with neglect. Shame on President Trump for not even once, not even yesterday, just saying, ‘Look, I grieve with the people of Puerto Rico.’ ”

On Wednesday afternoon, Trump said his administration did a “fantastic job” in Puerto Rico, despite pressure from Cruz regarding the significant number of citizens killed in the wake of the Hurricane.

Over the past six months, direct relief from the United States has continued to support local health centers and hospitals, providing more than $62.6 million in requested medication and supplies. This assistance totals 226, 8 tons and 8.1 million defined daily doses of medication. Through 265 emergency shipments, this medical aid went to 60 healthcare facilities in Puerto Rico.

However, despite this continued aid, the death toll has continued to rise–both from reports of the initial impact of the storm and health effects the storm has caused that continue to plaque the island. For example, after the category 4 storm hit Puerto Rico, communities hit hard struggled to maintain an insulin stock. Puerto Rico now has the highest rate of diabetes in the U.S., with 14.7 percent of the population with the disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Puerto Rico’s Department of Education announced Thursday that it will close an additional 283 schools, as enrollment has dropped by more than 38,700 students since last May and nearly half the schools are using just 60 percent of their capacity. The department said only 828 schools will reopen in August.

Lingering economic, educational and health effects after Hurricane Maria have costed Puerto Rican communities over $62.2 million. Cruz challenged Trump to provide additional support to ongoing efforts in Puerto Rico to re-establish normalcy.

Opinion: Trump’s Road to Impeachment

Opinion%3A+Trump%27s+Road+to+Impeachment

Since Donald Trump took office as the President of the United States on Jan. 20, 2017 many people have been rioting and pushing towards his impeachment. Trump’s actions and behavior have greatly affected the United States and have also made us a laughing stock to other countries.

During the 2017 election, many allegations were made against Trump saying he assaulted various women; however, Trump has denied all these accusations. There were also several times Trump said an offensive remark towards women.

According to New York Magazine, in 1992, Trump made an offensive statement towards Olympic gold-medalist ice skater Katrina Witt.

“Wonderful looking while on the ice but up close and personal, she could only be described as attractive if you like a woman with a bad complexion who is built like a linebacker,” Trump said.

Trump completely ignores Witt’s successes as an Olympic gold-medalist ice skater and only focused on her appearance.

Also, on July 13, 2017 Trump met the French First Lady, Brigittie Trogneux, and instead of complimenting her achievements as a leader he made a comment towards her physique.

According to The Telegraph, Trump said, “You know, you’re in such good shape.”

These kinds of statements degrade women to only their looks rather than their accomplishments. Trogneux is a feminist and has helped put in place female-friendly policies to help women in France. It’s insulting for an individual to only be recognized for their appearance rather than the successes they’ve made.

In recent events, Trump made a vulgar comment towards other countries. During an immigration meeting Trump describes countries with Black and Latino citizens as “s***hole” countries. This statement is incredibly racist; and this is the man that represents our country. His job is to lead us and protect us, but instead he has insulted his own citizens and it is an embarrassment to this country. By saying this, Trump has created more problems in this country and is influencing more hate.

President Trump needs to get his priorities in order and apologize for his fatuous behavior. If he doesn’t start making changes he is going to seriously hurt the people of America and cost himself his job.
